Two calculators and a readiness check
Three small tools, each answering one specific question with your own numbers. None of them fetch or quote a live exchange rate — you supply the rate you were actually given.
Conversion cost check
Enter the amount and the exact rate a provider quoted you to see what the margin in that rate is actually costing you in dollars.
Assumptions this uses
- You supply the rate — this tool never fetches or quotes a live market rate
- The spread you enter should be the gap between the quoted rate and the current mid-market rate, checked separately
- The result shows the cost of the margin only, not any separate flat fee the provider may also charge
Limitations: Does not account for a separate flat transfer fee, correspondent bank deductions, or any change in the rate between quote and settlement.

Ask for the rate, not just the fee
A "$0 transfer fee" claim tells you nothing about the exchange rate you're being given. Ask the provider directly for the exact rate that will be applied, then compare it to the mid-market rate for that currency pair before deciding anything else.
Transfer option comparison
Compare two transfer options — for example a bank wire versus an online transfer service — on their total annual cost for a recurring transfer.
Assumptions this uses
- Cost per transfer should include both the stated fee and the estimated dollar cost of the exchange rate margin
- Assumes a roughly monthly or recurring transfer pattern for the annual comparison to be meaningful
- Does not assume either option is faster or slower — only compares total dollar cost
Limitations: Does not account for a one-off large transfer, differing transfer limits between options, or delivery speed differences.

The Cross-Border Transfer Cost Worksheet
A fillable worksheet for checking the real cost of an international transfer before you send it.
Get the free guide →Pre-transfer readiness checklist
A quick check before sending a large or first-time cross-border transfer, so nothing obvious gets missed.
Assumptions this uses
- This checklist prepares your questions and confirms basic readiness; it does not calculate cost or file anything for you
- Reporting requirements depend on the amount, the countries involved, and your residency status
Limitations: Does not replace a conversation with a cross-border tax professional for a large or unusual transfer.

Once you know what you're trying to avoid — a wide spread, a slow corridor, a documentation gap — comparing real transfer options is the next practical step.
